Remembering David

It is with great sadness that the Tioga Family shares with our industry community that Owner and Senior Executive Vice President, David Keiser, passed away on April 2, 2024. He was an invaluable part of our success and in shaping our culture. His intelligence, honesty, integrity, wittiness and humor will be deeply missed. He was a strong leader that people gravitated towards and loved to be around. He will be forever remembered in everything Tioga does and stands for.

Houston Office Relocation

Tioga’s Houston Sales Office has moved to a new space in Houston on Heathrow Forest Parkway. The effective date of the switchover was March 19, 2020. According to Woody Fleming, Senior Vice-President Sales, “From the moment I visited the new space I was instantly excited for our Tioga team and future visitors. The new space suits our current and future needs perfectly in a modern building with lots of amenities. The move was seamless, there was no downtime and Tioga is open for business”. The new location is merely 7 miles from our previous space.

2019 Mummers Parade String Band Competition

Tioga is proud to support Steve Bujnowski (Buj) & the Woodland String Band.

The Woodland String Band finished 3rd in the 2019 Mummers Parade String Band Competition on New Years’ Day. The Mummers Parade is an annual Philadelphia tradition and it was founded way back in colonial times.

In 2019, the Woodland theme was “Into the Woods” and they achieved high score falling just 2 points behind the overall winner.

The Woodland String Band dates its establishment year back to 1926.

Bill Kotcher presents on the topic of Ethics and Leadership to an industry-wide audience.

Bill Kotcher, Tioga’s COO and Corporate Fellow/Adjunct Professor, teaching Ethics at the University of Houston Downtown, was a double-featured speaker at the 2019 NASPD (National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors) Annual Convention in New Orleans last week. The presentation was titled “Ethics and Leadership in the Modern Age” and focused on why Ethics are more important in the modern era based on the changing dynamics of: business environments, social trends, and technology.

Mr. Kotcher stressed the importance of alignment between an organization’s: Culture, Policy, and Practices, and explained why it is a critical factor for driving effective ethical leadership. Building on the discussion, four ethical perspectives encompassing the Legal, Financial, Social, and Personal aspects were covered with the peer attendees demonstrating why ethical practices are not only the right thing to do but also why it makes economic business sense.

In addition to speaking at the national convention, Mr. Kotcher was invited to speak at NASPD’s Future Leader’s seminar focus on developing the industry’s future talent. In that regard, Mr. Kotcher commented “It was truly an honor to be a part of the Leadership Development program and to have the opportunity to share leadership lessons and ethical perspectives with the attendees”.

The seminar was both eye opening and very well received. Parts of Mr. Kotcher’s speech were also noted in a recent AMM article entitled ‘5 Things we Learned at NASPD Convention’ by Dom Yanchunas on March 8, 2019.

Today is Mort’s 100th birthday

We wanted to mark this date by expressing our appreciation to the entire Team Tioga for all you have accomplished, are currently accomplishing, and will accomplish in the future. You honor his legacy by continuing to build a strong, profitable, and honorable Tioga Pipe.

Mort would be very proud of the 2018 Tioga – but you can be assured that he would also be letting all of us know about all the things we could be doing better. And, of course, he would be right!

Lake Charles Natural Gas Power Plant Project Begins

A hearty congratulation from Tioga goes out to all those involved. After considerable planning, construction on this combined Cycle unit is underway in Calcasieu Parrish, Louisiana. This 980 MW plant will generate power for Jefferson, St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes and is projected to cost under $870M. For more information go to https://goo.gl/JhCYRw

Tioga congratulates everyone involved in the Carroll County Energy natural gas electric generation facility in Ohio which went recently began commercial operations. This facility is 700-MW which includes two GE turbines and a steam turbine. According to Power Engineering magazine, "plans to build Carroll County Energy were announced in July 2013. In April 2015, Advanced Power closed the $899 million project financing."

Tioga congratulates 2 Top Plant Winners: Cane Run Plant & Linden Generating Station.

Tioga is proud to have been a part of two plants recently recognized by PowerMag.com- the Cane Run Plant & Linden Generating Station.

According to author Thomas Overton, there were three major winning attributes associated with the Cane Run plant: Cane Run is the first combined cycle plant in Kentucky, it is highly efficient using the first of a new turbine model & it is substantially reducing emissions.
